GET TO KNOW ALT-POP'S NEW TEEN QUEEN CARLIE HANSON

Alt-pop's new teen queen Carlie Hanson is the name on everyone's lips.

The nineteen-year-old singer dropped her debut five-track EP Junk just last week - The names comes from the random voice memos on her phone which she'd record when struck by inspiration - She thought they were "Junk" - until she began pulling them out in the studio and they proved to be anything but.

"I thought it was just, like, trash or junk - Everybody has their own junk," Carlie explains.

The EP is an eclectic collection of bubbly melodic bops paired with deeply expressive lyrics and some serious vocal chops. Carlie's lead single Back In My Arms is giving the replay button plenty of action.

If you're in need of a quick Carlie catch up, the teen got her big break after covering a Zayn single in an effort to win a competition to meet the former One Direction star - Too cute, we know.

While Carlie didn't win the meet and greet, she did gain the attention of a talent agent. From there she was invited to record with a couple of Canadian producers and begun discovering her own sound. Then it was record deals in L.A, touring with Troye Sivan and making it on to Taylor Swift's playlist.

Now's the perfect time to get to know this fast-rising star, so we threw some random questions at Carlie.

What's her spirit animal? The most sage advice she's received from her mum? Her go-to karaoke banger?

Find out below.
