JACK GRAY OPENS UP ABOUT HIS CATCHY NEW TUNE 'FOOLS'

20-year-old Aussie singer/songwriter/producer Jack Gray has released his new single Fools along with his hotly anticipated debut EP Nights Like This.

Calling to mind contemporaries from Jack Garratt and James Blake to Frank Ocean and The 1975, Jack's melodic voice floats over a combination of slick guitar work and crunchy electronic production. The 5-track EP often juxtaposes conflicting emotions, tackling weighty topics with subtle nuance and thoughtful reflection, while also capturing the beautiful highs and messy lows of the journey into adulthood.

Fools is no exception. Gray revealed he wrote the song soon after moving to Syndey, and finding himself isolated and broke.

"I had no money, and I had no friends, and it reminded me of a time when I was in a relationship that wasn't necessarily healthy."

The quirky riff and catchy vocals have us hooked.

Jack breaks down the track and explains his creative process in the video below.

Jack has spent the last few months writing and recording in LA as well as supporting fellow Aussie singer/songwriter Dean Lewis on tour in the UK, Europe and most recently the US and Canada, before opening for Ella Vos and Clara Mae in New York.

He's certainly one to watch.
